GMC Yukon Sales Fall 13.6 Percent To 5,047 Units In April 2017

GMC Yukon sales decreased in the United States and increased in Canada during April 2017.

GMC Yukon Sales – April 2017 – United States

Cumulative deliveries of the GMC Yukon family fell 13.6 percent to 5,047 units in April 2017, comprised of:

  • 3,030 deliveries of the regular-length Yukon, a decrease of 8.8 percent compared to 3,324 units sold in April 2016, and
  • 2,017 deliveries of the extended-length Yukon XL, a decrease of 19.9 percent compared to 2,518 units sold in April 2016

In the first four months of 2017, cumulative Yukon sales increased 4.9 percent to 22,587 units, comprised of:

  • 13,014 deliveries of the Yukon, an increase of 5.7 percent, and
  • 9,573 deliveries of the Yukon XL, an increase of 3.8 percent

GMC Yukon Sales – April 2017 – Canada

In Canada, Yukon family deliveries increased 21.9 percent to 423 units in April 2017, comprised of:

  • 246 units of the regular-length Yukon, an increase of 50 percent compared to 164 units sold in April 2016, and
  • 177 units of the Yukon XL, a decrease of 3.3 percent compared to 183 units sold in April 2016

In the first four months of the year, cumulative sales of the Yukon family totaled 1,280 units in Canada, an increase of 0.9 percent compared to the first four months of 2016. These 1,280 deliveries are comprised of:

  • 723 units of the Yukon, up 14.2 percent from the 633 units sold in April 2016, and
  • 557 units of the Yukon XL, down 12.3 percent from the 635 units sold in April 2016

The GM Authority Take

April represented the second consecutive month of decreasing Yukon sales in the U.S., a development that is both puzzling and concerning, since it comes at a time when SUVs and CUVs are in high demand. Given that the Yukon is one of GM’s most profitable vehicles, a decrease in Yukon deliveries could negatively impact GM’s earnings in the second quarter of 2017.

  1. Not that I have a conclusion, but that’s roughly the same monthly drop-off that Escalade experienced.

    Maybe May will be better? Maybe it’s typically cyclical? People waiting for 2018 models? I dunno…
