Florida Neighborhood Names Streets After Stereotypical First Cars

Everyone remembers their first car. Most of the time, it was nothing to boast about, but it was the first set of wheels you owned and it opened up a world of freedom. No more asking mom and dad to pick you up at the mall, you could come and go as you pleased.

What better way to conjure nostalgic memories than to settle in on Reatta Lane? Or maybe Lumina Court? One Florida neighborhood seems to have taken to (mostly) forgotten 1990s cars as a way to name their streets, discovered by Jalopnik. Coincidentally, they may also represent your first car.

Looking at the map of Amelia Island, Florida, we can see the aforementioned Reatta Lane and Lumina Court, both hailing from General Motors, a Buick and Chevrolet respectfully. There’s also Taurus Court, a nod to Ford’s mid-size sedan smash hit, Le SaBre Place, yet another Buick, and Ciera Lane brings back memories of Oldsmobile.

Intentional or not, it’s kind of neat. Though, we wonder if real estate is pricier on Benz Place or DeLorean Street. We didn’t know too many high school kids driving those as their first cars.

  1. That’s nothing! I grew up in a subdivision a couple of miles from the GM Tech Center where all the streets were named after cigarettes!
