It’s time for a new RWD Impala
Amen to that. It should have never gone away in the first place. It’s been mentioned before but it also needs to be AWD optional. That’s one of the biggest selling points of CUV’s/SUV’s in our area. When you get snow and/or ice on the roads, AWD is a must have if it’s to be a daily driven vehicle which the Impala is. It’s mind boggling that Chevrolet doesn’t have an AWD car when Ford, Dodge and even KIA offer them. Chevrolet has really been lacking in terms of interior options and driveline options compared to the competition. Time to step it up!
The reason that Chevy doesn’t have AWD on its sedans is called Buick.
None of the other brands you mentioned (Ford, Dodge, Kia, Hyundai) do not have a mid-tier premier brand… GM does.
The strategy should change in order for Chevy to also get the highest trim levels, technologies, and AWD systems… as an option.
I Know that’s right, the impala SS will the coolest drive ever.
SS production has been completed. The assembly plant will continue to produce Holdens until Oct. , but the SS is finished. RWD/AWD Impala?? Don’t hold your breath. The TT V6 and AWD from the XTS V Sport could have easily been used in the current Impala, but not going to happen. Even if it was offered, the price?? $50K+??
The AWD system in the last-gen LaCrosse was a $2,300 option. Couple that with the Impala’s $27,500 starting price, and you get a full size car with AWD in the $30,000 range… far from $50,000 you mentioned.
As stated, if an Impala was offered with the 3.6L twin turbo V6 and AWD as it is in the XTS V Sport, the price would likely exceed $50K. It would be a nice alternative for sure with the departure of the SS, but few would sell.
Yet Ford makes the Taurus SHO that’s starts at $42,000.
No need to over inflate expected prices… an Impala SS with the LF3 and AWD would start at $45,000.
It’s a sign of the sad times we live in. They won’t be replacing the SS because everything is going in the god forsaken SUV/truck direction. We will be lucky to have the Impala or Malibu before this dreary decade ends.
Joe, I never would have imagined that it would come to this.
The coupes and convertibles are barely alive.
now sedans are even dropping.
The CUV has become the new king of the land, which blows for anyone that is an automotive enthusiast or appreciates automobiles.
do the monthly sales numbers really mean that much for the SS Sedan since production is done?
basically what is produced will be sold as they hit the dealer lots.
