Chevrolet Equinox sales increased in the United States and in Canada in April 2017.

Chevrolet Equinox Sales – April 2017 – United States

Chevrolet Equinox deliveries in the United States totaled 20,655 units in April 2017, a very slight increase of 0.2 percent or 48 units. Of those 20,655 deliveries, the all-new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox accounted for 4,500 deliveries as production of the all-new compact CUV ramps up at the GM CAMI factory where the crossover is made. All 4,500 deliveries of the all-new Equinox were of the 1.5L Turbo model, since units with the more optional and powerful 2.0L LTG turbo engine will arrive this summer, followed by vehicles with the 1.6L LH7 turbo-diesel engine.

In the first four months of 2017, Equinox sales increased 3.6 percent to 83,364 units.

The GM Authority Take

The second-generation Chevy Equinox takes the crown for the oldest vehicle in its segment. As such, its impressive that — despite its age — the model managed to move more units in April of this year than it did in April of last year, a turn of events made possible by consumers’ seemingly endless love affair with crossovers at the expense of other vehicle types, such as sedans.

Even better, the completely-overhauled 2018 Chevy Equinox is now launching across the U.S. Featuring an all-new engine lineup and an all-new lightweight architecture (GM’s D2 platform) that enables the new all-new Equinox to shed over 400 pounds in weight, the new CUV gets better fuel economy while also delivering ride and handling improvements. In addition, the 2018 Equinox gets an all-new exterior and interior, while being slightly smaller inside and out compared to the outgoing model.

Ultimately, we expect that the new Equinox will sell in even higher volumes than the model it replaces once it launches, so long as GM can keep up with demand.

  1. Actually this is good considering it is a transition year from old to new.

Next year should show much growth. The new models here are difficult to find with the slow start up and excited buyers.

    1. I’ve only seen 3 new Nox’s in my area so supply is defintely still ramping up

      1. To note, GM did built out inventory to account for the transition… we shouldn’t see a sales volume drop during launch.

        1. You do when people are waiting for the new models as the stop buying the old.

We saw that when the second gen arrived. I was at the dealer and I could get the old but the new one was hard to look at.

It took several weeks till the got a V6 and even then it was one some one ordered and I could not buy.

Allocations also play a big role in soft starts.

  2. Still waiting for the 2.0T option to be on the build and price

    1. It is strange that it is taking them so long to get this engine out since it is already being made in the Malibu and other vehicles. I fear that it will make the Equinox very overpriced in the Premier trim level.

      1. It’s already overpriced at 39k with all the bells and whistles. But honestly it doesn’t surprise me as the Cherokee and escape are already in the 40k with bells and whistles

  3. I see quit a few of tthe 2nd gen. on the road . They may be old school but people still like them . I worry though that the 2018’s being smaller on the inside may turn people away . Allocations do play a big role at the start , dealers having just a couple for show and not for sale , I experienced that when the Cadillac CT6 first came out . One was in the showroom and the 2nd was their test drive car .
It will take a couple of weeks for the factory to get up to speed and ship ordered vehicles and dealer inventory .

  4. As an owner who has had three Equinox, 2010, 2013, and 2016, I like the looks of the 2018. I won’t be getting one, though, due to the smaller size. I have a friend who has a 2018 and loves it. I think there is an Acadia in my future because of it’s size.

  6. I know a colleague at work who bought a new 2018. It is an LT AWD with the 1.5T. He likes it but says the engine is underpowered on the open road which is concerning. He also misses features like the sliding rear seat and the fold flat passenger seat. Why is GM eliminating all these handy items that used to make the old Equinox stand out?

    1. I think the sliding option being deleted is probably to save weight
