Cadillac Racing’s Michael Cooper and Jordan Taylor finished second in Race 2 of this weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge double header from Lime Rock Park.
The No. 8 ATS-V.R led the race early on, however they were relegated to second after the race-winning No. 4 Audi R8 LMS pitted for fresh tires and a driver change before them. After the Cadillac had pitted and the Audi had assumed the lead, driver Spencer Pumpelly stretched out a large lead and the Cadillac was unable to reel in the Audi.
In addition to Audi drivers Dane Cameron and Pumpelly, Cooper and Taylor were also joined on the podium by Ben Barnicoat and defending PWC GT champ Alvaro Parente after they finished third in their No. 9 K-PAX Racing McLaren 650S GT3. The No. 3 Cadillac ATS-V.R of Johnny O’Connell and Ricky Taylor was seventh.
In Race 1, which was won by Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 drivers Patrick Long and Marc Lieb, the No. 8 car just barely missed the podium with a fourth place finish. The No. 3 Cadillac ATS-V.R was also poised to take a top five finish, however Taylor was forced to retire the car after contact with the No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche forced him into a barrier. The Pumpelly/Cameron duo was second in Race 1, while the pairing of Parente/Barnicoat was third.
