The GM Authority Take

April represented the third consecutive month of decreasing Escalade sales in the U.S., a development that is both puzzling and concerning given that it comes at a time that SUVs and CUVs are in high demand. Not only that, but the Escalade is one of GM’s most profitable vehicles, if not the most profitable. As such, a drop in Escalade deliveries could negatively impact GM’s earnings in the second quarter of 2017.

  1. Maybe it is time for Cadillac to redesign and refresh the Escalade, then call it the XT8 following the new naming scheme and using a similar sounding name. Add a hybrid power train based on the CT6 so it can get over 30 MPG yet get the same or better HP rating. Lateron, Cadillac can offer a full EV version for truly silent riding.

    1. A redesign/refresh is always welcome – though the front end makes a strong Cadillac statement. However, keep the Escalade name. IMO it resonates with buyers.

      1. Yes, why rid themselves of a powerful name.
