The GM Authority Take

Being the oldest vehicle in its class, the Cadillac ATS continues to suffer at the hands of newer competitors, such as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3/4 Series and the Audi A4/A5 lineup. Though the ongoing shift in consumer buying dynamics that favors crossover utility vehicles (CUVs) at the expense of sedans and coupes is undeniable, it didn’t hurt the compact luxury sedan and coupe segment in April, which saw cumulative sales grow 7.15 percent to 24,165 units.

As such, Cadillac would be well advised to either market the ATS family (it recently released a 30-second spot entitled Jack of All Trades focusing on the compact luxury sedan) or replace the ATS lineup with an all-new vehicle (which will possibly be called Cadillac CT3 or Cadillac CT4) so as to increase ATS sales volume, given the obvious opportunity of a growing segment.

  1. I think the May 2017 auto sales numbers are going to be shocking, across all platforms, brands, and models. Inventories are high, there are a staggering number of active loans, and car sales have been trending down for the last two month.

  2. Lust.. as this is something you never hear used by potential buyers of a Cadillac ATS and the reason is that there’s no excitement as the 2017 Cadillac ATS is not much different from the 2016 or 2015 ATS and Cadillac has not used the ATS-V.R in promotion.
