The GM Authority Take

Though the roughly 10 percent increase in U.S. LaCrosse deliveries during April is a welcome change, it’s still relatively small compared to the sales volume of the second-generation model. Keeping in mind that the launch of the all-new 2017 LaCrosse has been complete since the latter part of 2016, we attribute the decrease in LaCrosse deliveries in the first four months of 2017 to the ongoing shift in the consumer behavior dynamics wherein car buyers are favoring crossover utility vehicles (CUVs) at the expense of sedans such as the LaCrosse.

Whether this trend is permanent or temporary is anyone’s guess at this point, but the third-gen LaCrosse — which is a fine vehicle — will likely continue to sell in lower volumes compared to its predecessor, which was sold during a time when sedan sales were high compared to the levels seen today.

  1. Seeing that this is the last sedan they make I would hope sales will go up some. Not everybody wants a Sport Ute

    1. “This is the last sedan they make?”

Says who? The new Regal Sportback is technically a sedan. The styling is the same as that of a sedan…

There is also the possibility of a Verano making a return in the future…

  2. Had this car not had the dreaded stop/start tech with no way to deactivate it, I would of had one in my driveway. I wonder how many test drives with this crap technology turn a lot of potential buyers off.

    1. I don’t imagine that it deters many buyers, as most see this as a benefit for saving fuel… though it does take a bit to get used to.

    2. I think this is a common refrain. I have the car and it’s a great ride.

Autostop not as bad as you might think…it doesn’t intrude that much.

But a defeat button is a must-have for the first refresh and a must have for me to re-purchase.

(Unless we’re all very darn sure every car and CUV is going to have same….?)
