The GM Authority Take

The Encore’s record-setting sales performance over the past two months is a perfect example of the market shift towards crossover utility vehicles (CUVs) compared to other vehicles such as sedans and coupes. The same can be said of the Encore’s platform mate, the Chevrolet Trax, which saw sales rise 44.3 percent to 6,509 in April.

Buick is giving the Encore a handful of updates and changes for the 2018 model year, including a new exterior color, an cabin air ionizer, and more. See the complete 2018 Buick Encore changes and updates.

  1. Nice vehicle but still trying to understand how Encore fits into a pseudo luxury brand, especially in the era of Avenir.
Encore as a Chevy would have given the Bow Tie a smaller yet great CR-V rival.
Buick needs less ordinary, more bespoken product as it takes on Asian luxury and even Audi.
Furthermore, Trax makes Chevy look like crap. Encore like quality was needed.

      1. Small cars can’t be luxurious since when again?
      2. It was created before Avenir.
      3. The sales should tell you how the fit is going.

“Encore as a Chevy would have given the Bow Tie a smaller yet great CR-V rival.”

So it’s a nice Buick but magically transforms into a great Chevy?

“Buick needs less ordinary, more bespoken product as it takes on Asian luxury and even Audi.”

Does it? Isn’t that what Cadillac exists for?

“Trax makes Chevy look like crap.”

How is it obvious that Trax makes Chevy look like crap but Cruze doesn’t?

  2. Besides an attractive refresh, entry level Buick buyers are pretty much forced into this with the departure of the Verano.
