From the looks of the scene, the crash looks deadly, but thankfully, only minor injuries occurred. The Chevrolet Impala involved didn’t fare too well, though.
According to the Press Democrat, Apol Lansang was driving her Impala on Highway 101 in California when Kevin Fenty drifted into her lane and collided with her nearly head-on. The result of the Toyota Sequoia’s force split the Impala in half, leaving Lansang on the road in the driver’s half of the car, and the passenger side thrown into a hill some 20 feet away.
Tom Bond filmed the aftermath which shows a chilling scene. Thankfully, neither driver was seriously injured, though Fenty was ejected from the Toyota. Police believe Fenty was under the influence of drugs and was not wearing his seatbelt when he collided with Lansang’s Chevrolet.
It’s a stark reminder to buckle up and keep your eyes on the road at all times.

Saw this reported in the Republican Herald also. Scary surreal situation for sure.
Drugged out Toyota driver? You don’t say…
Looks horrible indeed. Lady in Impala was lucky to survive pretty much because SUV hit her car on her passenger side (as ones sees on this video, passenger side was completely disintegrated…). By the way, the Impala is not the current one, but of previous generation (fuel door is clearly on the left side, while the latest one has fuel door on the right side). The new Impala may do somewhat better, in theory, than the previous one, since it is, in theory, more crash-proof. However, this crash was so severe, that it hardly matters here, perhaps…
I’ve never seen a car split in half, that’s crazy. I’ve seen people killed in accidents with damage that looked like nothing and she survived this. Scary
That she survived unscathed was miraculous. And I don’t throw that term around loosely.
Where this w body got hit is not a common spot as the SUV missed the entire crumple zone.
I would wager she was hurt less than the SUV driver as he had more impact.
As fast as he was going if he had hit her head on it may have killed here as he really had to be moving.
The last time I saw an accident like this Michael Waltrip hit the gate at Bristol speedway. It ripped his stock car to pieces. He was just sitting there in his seat. Look it up on YouTube as it is amazing. Another driver also did the dpsame before they fixed it.
First let me say that I am thankful that the occupants of this car lived to tell about it. Second, the damage sustained to this car I swear atypical. As you can see from the video that as a result of the impact the car separated very cleanly at the surfaces where the various body panels are physically welded and bolted at the factory. That should have never happened. The half of the car that is sitting in the road looks like someone used a saw to cleanly cut open the car. I think it would be worthwhile to further investigate and examine the vehicle to see what went wrong and why. I am so happy they didn’t have any kids in the backseat. They without a doubt would not have lived.
Most cars have crumple zone and breakaway areas to absorb the impact and reduce the negative “G” forces on the occupants. The truck is heavier and has more mass so it applied the greater force. But the Impala breakup took up that force and save the driver. If I had the authority, I would have that truck driver hung by his genitals for DUI.
There was only one occupant in the Impala – the driver herself. It seems nobody else sitting elsewhere would survive, so it was indeed a miracle that it went this way and with no other occupants in the vehicle at the same time.
OMG what lucky people.
