Chevrolet’s full-size crossover has a price tag ahead of its launch later this year. The base 2018 Chevrolet Traverse will start at $30,875, an increase of $1,280 over the outgoing, least expensive 2017 Traverse.
The 2018 Traverse arrives on a stretched version of General Motors’ C1XX platform, which also underpins the 2018 Buick Enclave. While the base model keeps things relatively affordable—for a full-size crossover—ticking option boxes will cause the Traverse’s final price to climb past $50,000.
The base 2018 Traverse arrives with standard dual-zone climate control, cloth seats and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The Traverse LS starts at $32,995, while the LT trim is split into 1LT and 3LT variants.
The Traverse 1LT rings in at $35,495, while the 3LT starts to rack up the extras such as 20-inch wheels, a power liftgate, Bose audio, heated seats and a 360-degree camera system. The goodies come at a price of $42,095. Additionally, all-wheel drive can be added for an extra $3,800 to the LS, 1LT and 3LT trims.
The Premier model adds additional creature comforts such as heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel and LED headlights for $45,395. All-wheel drive is a $2,900 option for Premier models.
Finally, the range-topping Traverse High Country marks the first time buyers can take home a $50,000+ Traverse. For $52,995, the Traverse High Country includes everything found in the Premier, but adds a chrome grille, Chevy’s suite of active safety systems and includes all-wheel drive as standard.
No matter which 2018 Traverse, each is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine. However, it’s not the 3.6-liter LGX V6 found in many GM vehicles today. It’s actually GM’s old 3.6-liter LFX V6 with automatic start/stop added. In the 2018 Traverse—and 2018 Enclave—it’s assigned the LFY designation.
With the 2018 Traverse’s move slightly upmarket, with larger overall dimensions, it leaves a perfect space for a new mid-size Chevrolet crossover. That vehicle will likely arrive next year and carry the Blazer nameplate.

What does the Premier price at?
$45,395 + $2,900 for AWD.
So the 2017 awd premier loaded is 47,910 that’s with tow pkg $ 575 , sunroof $1400, white pearl paint $995 and destination $895, so 2018 $45395 +$2900 and all options I just showed brings it to $52160 that’s if you opt for the best paint, now that’s an increase of $4250 that’s insane, I can see a $1300 increase for the same model /opt ,by the way gm online order guide still shows all these options above on the premier as optional but std on the high country for $52995 gets better looks like no 8 way pass seat, no power fold mirrors, and hard panels on dash and door tops, yes they have added more tech but that’s supposed to happen with a10 year newer platform. still a proud Owner of a 17 traverse awd premier with options above.
proud owner of a 17 my ass, you bought
the last year model of a old car no wonder you are pist off about price your car has now had a major drop in wirth with no new technology
Well value drops the second you leave the dealer with any year model, and yes a proud owner of a fully loaded premiere for 9000 off msrp and next year I will purchase the 18 model year and save off the over inflated price but you d_ _ k head will pay the high price and lose as well the second you leave the dealer, ass bag troller go make no sense some where else. Note Worth not wirth
Yet another case of GM overpricing like they do with Cadillac and Buick. Expect the discounts within the first model year.
So when is it being released to purchase?
Sometime in August
This has been a common complaint from consumers about the Acadia too . A higher price tag for a smaller vehicle . It’s a good thing that there are so many trim levels so you can get the new Traverse optioned out the way you want . But just like any product you buy the newer model is always going to cost more , look at cell phones for example however if you are going to spend $50,000+ for a Traverse go for the new Acadia Denali for the same amount .
Why doesn’t GM offer the 10 speed auto like in the new for ’18 SUV’s ?
If you look at the 52K priced Traverse, it is being shown as the High Country Trim Level, which is comparable to GMC’s Denali
Does the traverse 1LT comes with power liftgate? or only the 3LT?
My neighbor works for GM and brought home one today. It appears to be the “Redline” version, and it’s gorgeous. I suspect they will be on sale sooner than August. I’ve seen a few truckloads already during my commute.
Well you have some homework to do since your the closest person to be next to one, are the dash and top door panels rubber or hard plastic, etc. Any info would be great
Man, just leased a 2017 Traverse 2 months ago… Wish there was some way to switch, to get a 2018…
Does anybody know when they are having a first drive event for press?
pricing seems way too high, especially after the price announcement for the new enclave. why would you pay $53k for a chevy when you can get a buick for less than $2k more?
Because there isn’t that great of a difference in quality and features anymore.
Cadillac is suffering from the same fate. Using too many common parts. You can’t charge Cadillac prices when you use Chevy parts.
