With 7,153 units sold in calendar year 2016, the 2018 Buick Cascada continues to serve a specific purpose of filling white space in the Buick lineup. In doing so, the small convertible continues to serve as the poster child of Buick’s movement away from the stodgy image associated with the elderly demographic, making the brand relevant for younger generations. And for the 2018 model year, the Cascada is up for a few small changes and updates.
On the outside, the 2018 Cascada deletes three colors while adding three new ones:
Deleted Colors
- Toasted Coconut Metallic
- True Blue Metallic
- Deep Sky Metallic
New Colors
- Rioja Red Metallic
- Carrageen on Sport Touring (1SH)
- Darkmoon Blue Metallic
In addition, the 2018 Cascada gets two new convertible top colors for the Premium (1SP) trim level to join the previously-available black top. The first is called Malbec and the second is Sweet Mokka. Both are limited to certain exterior and interior color colors and color combinations:
Requirements for Malbec Convertible Top:
- Combination 1:
- Interior: Jet Black seats with Jet Black accents
- Exterior:
- Rioja Red Metallic
- Summit White
- Ebony Twilight Metallic
- Combination 2:
- Interior: Light Neutral seats with Jet Black accents
- Exterior:
- Summit White
- Ebony Twilight Metallic
Requirements for Sweet Mokka Convertible Top:

- Exterior:

- Ebony Twilight Metallic
- Combination 2:
- Interior:Â Light Neutral seats with Jet Black accents
- Exterior:

Lastly, the Dark Effects Package becomes more widely available. While it was previously available exclusively with the Sport Red exterior, it is now available with the Ebony Twilight Metallic and Summit White exterior colors. The Cascada’s Dark Effects package includes:
- Sanguine Red seat stitching on seats, doors and instrument panel
- Piano Black trim decor on doors, center stack and instrument panel
- Alloy sport pedals
- Gloss black mirror caps
- Gloss black grille
The package is available only on the Sport Touring (1SH) trim level and requires the black convertible top.

To be honest I wasn’t expecting any updates for the 2018 model year! What a surprise!
It needs to get a new better looking body and engine. And make those stupid 20″ jack hammer riding rubber band tires an option with 18″ std.
I’ve owned this car for the past year and love it. While I agree the engine could be improved, trust me, there’s nothing wrong with the body or the 20″ wheels. I get stopped all the time in parking lots and even in heavy traffic and people tell me the car is beautiful, or ask me how I like it so far…recently, a meter maid followed me into my garage after a grocery run and had a 10 minute conversation with me about my car. Thus, the body is just fine lol and the the 20″ tires set off the car’s good looks.
The front of the car doesn’t go with the back end of the car.
I really wanted a hardtop but the sales numbers won’t justify it.
