It’s everyone’s favorite time of the day: time for yet another round of C7 Corvette ZR1 spy shots, that is.
The highly anticipated Corvette has been spotted yet again at the Nürburgring to clock another round of laps to hone its performance capability at the famed road course. This time, though, the goofy exhaust pipes are missing in action for some reason. The pipes supposedly help quiet the Corvette ZR1 down as The Green Hell places a strict decibel cap at 100 db. The C7 Corvette ZR1 is one loud puppy at wide open throttle, we’d imagine.
You know the rumors, too. We’re either dealing with a new 6.2-liter LT5 V8 engine, which has been rumored to appear for the 2018 model year of Corvette, or an even more potent 6.2-liter LT4 supercharged V8 engine. If the ZR1 is to once again be king of the Corvettes, it will have to outdo the C7 Corvette Z06, which produces 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
The Corvette ZR1 may bow later this year in August during an IMSA race at Road America. If not, we’ll likely have a bit longer to wait.
