Ricky Taylor has qualified on pole for Saturday’s IMSA Bubba Burger Sportscar Grand Prix from Long Beach.
Taylor turned in a fast lap of 1:13.549 in his No. 10 Cadillac DPi-V.R, leading a sweep of the front row for Cadillac. The No. 5 Action Express Racing Cadillac of Christian Fittipaldi was about 0.2 seconds slower than Taylor, qualifying second with a best lap of 01:13.753.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t the No. 31 Cadillac DPi-V.R sister car of Fittipaldi in second, but the No. 55 Mazda RT24-P of Tristan Nunez, who was just under a second behind Taylor with lap of 1:14.393. It was then the No. 85 JDC-Miller Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson of Mikhail Goikberg in fourth (1:14.408), followed by the No. 31 car in fifth (1:14.444).
Largely off pace was the No. 51 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Ligier LMP2 of Will Owen and the No. 22 Tequila Patron ESM Nissan DPi of 1:16.682, which were in the mid 1:16 range.
The IMSA Bubba Burger Sportscar Grand Prix will go live at 3:50 p.m. ET on Saturday.
