Opel Flagship Sedans Set To Invade Bodensee Klassik

Opel is preparing for the sixth annual Bodensee Klassik and it has a real treat for enthusiasts. The brand will bring six of its flagship sedans to the event to showcase decades of Opel engineering, as the vehicles rally through Germany, Switzerland and Austria between May 4 and 6.

The participants this year include:

  • 1976 Opel Diplomat B V8 extended wheelbase
  • 1966 Opel Kapitän A V8
  • 1956 Opel Kapitän
  • 1991 Lotus Omega
  • 1966 Opel Admiral A V8
  • 1972 Opel Commodore B GS/E

There’s a whole lot of history between the six cars. For example, the Diplomat rides on an extended wheelbase and was used when U.S. President Gerald Ford visited Germany in 1976, the Kapitän V8 is one of 130 ever built and the 1991 Omega traces its build roots back to Lotus.

To cap off the six classics, Opel will also parade the latest Insignia Grand Sport, its ultimate expression of a modern flagship for the brand. The 2017 Insignia Grand Sport has already begun rolling off the assembly line, but attendees can catch it parading about with vintage Opel medal next month.

  1. The sad thing is that all of those cars were made under GM and know Opel will shift under Peugeot.
