OnStar Thwarts Theft Of Cadillac In Washington State

OnStar’s total value to customers may not be apparent until its services are needed the most. Three teenagers appeared in court this past week for allegedly stealing a 2012 Cadillac in DuPont, Washington.

The News Tribune reports the three young men beat the owner up before stealing the car and driving off. However, police found the car after OnStar had disabled the vehicle following the theft. The three men, one aged 17 and two 16, were charged as adults because of the seriousness of the crime.

It’s not the first time OnStar has come to the rescue. OnStar has deactivated countless cars, through its Stolen Vehicle Assistance and Slowdown, after owners have reported them stolen and the service has helped drivers with medical emergencies behind the wheel, too.

I renewed Guidance last week for this reason. The one year complimentary expires next week. I deliberated then decided it’s better to have it and not need it. I think of it similar to insurance. Don’t want to use it.
