The GM Authority Take
The decline in cumulative U.S. Canyon sales volume is surprising given the more or less runaway sales performance since the launch of the second-generation Canyon in 2015. As such, we attribute the decline to GMC Sierra sales cutting into Canyon deliveries, as incentives on the full-size Sierra were very lucrative in March, but very limited on the Canyon. We believe that the same circumstance also negatively impacted sales of the Canyon’s brother — the Chevrolet Colorado.

I believe the fact strong sales in the previous months depleted supplies.
I shopped and bought a Canyon recently and was lucky to find the one I wanted. Most dealers in the mid west are showing 5 or less models. I found a few that has no Canyons.
Mine was the only one like it in 250 miles and one of 37 in the country when I bought it.
Right now you either have to order or settle if you are buying for the most part.
I expect supplies to remain low till August and the 2018 models.
Production was being changed with the vans and they expect supplies to increase in the coming months.
Can’t buy a truck if you can’t find the one you want.
Yes the same will happen to the Colorado.
Note I did find So Cal dealers have larger supplies but many are white work trucks for some reason.
I ordered a Canyon Denali on Valentine’s Day, Feb 14, the truck was built on April Fools Day, April 1. The vehicle then sat for 18 days before transportation began. If once the vehicle is built there should be a rapid movement to the dealer, I have heard salesmen tell prospective buyers ” we have one ordered but have no clue as to delivery date”. One sale lost ! My dealership has never had more than two Canyons when I visited and one of those had plates on it so it must have been used.
Also I found most dealer’s inventory of Canyon Denali’s were equipped with a Diesel engines which I have no interest in.
The Canyon Denali often have Diesels or are long beds if unsold.
Most Crew CAb short beds are sold unless they are white or black. They are the most common color on lots and far from the most popular.
I just got lucky the one I got was unsold and they were willing to deal as it approached 90 days on the lot and was going to cost them a interest payment on the floor plan.
If one wants a A c
Long bed crew or extended cab they are giving deals on them as they are less popular but still not easy to find let a
One with the option or color you want.
ordered my GMC 3500 Hd on March 1st and hope to pick up by June 15th, so excited
All the folks that I know that have these (canyon/coloarado) say they will NOT own another one! Just a flawed basic design. Time for GM to start anew.
I have a Canyon and won’t buy another. Too many design flaws.
I own a Canyon and would replace it tomorrow with a new one if needed.
The mpg is great. And I love the way it rides and drives.
I do win a sunroof was available but that is it.
Other than the front spoiler being low there is nothing wrong with these trucks and most reviews put them as best in class.
There are no perfect truck I can give you flaws on all of them.w
Doug, Obviously you do not own a Canyon or you would not be posting unsubstantiated dribble, find a used one on a lot if folks are dumping them so fast. My 2015 is as good a vehicle as I have owned, not a complaint about mechanics, design or comfort. I have driven the truck to Texas twice (5000 mi round trip) without undue fatigue it drives so well.
In a few weeks I will have it’s replacement a 2017 Canyon Denali, just in time for another trip to Texas. I for one am quite content with my choice of the Canyon sized pick up and although I could have bought a Sierra cheaper with their current incentives I stuck with a Canyon in 2017 and a few updates in mechanics and comfort.
Just bought a 2017 Canyon and think it is super. Looked for quite a while to find a dealer with an extended cab and not a crew cab. Not many of these trucks out there. I have owned a Dodge Dakota, Chevrolet Colorado, Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma and now a GMC Canyon. All these trucks have been extended cabs. I can truly say I like the ride of the Canyon second to none so far and then I would say the Toyota Tacoma. These are only my opinion and I do not want to cause insult to any make or model.
Scott3, I too would like to see the following three things into the Canyon:
1. Power Sunroof
2. Homelink garage door opener
3. Power rear slider rather than manual.
Beyond that i do not need other creature comforts than what the Denali is stuffed with.
