GM Honors 118 Suppliers For Going The Extra Mile

General Motors has returned for the 25th year in an effort to recognize suppliers that go the extra mile in the areas of quality, innovation and dedication. This year, GM honored 118 suppliers across 15 countries at a ceremony in Orlando, Florida.

The “Supplier of the Year” award was handed out to each supplier GM has deemed worthy of such honor, and more than half of the winners were repeats from 2015. Specifically, though, Mann+Hummel received the “Silver Anniversary” award after being named a supplier of the year for 22 of the 25 years the award has been around.

Of the many honored, suppliers including AGM Automotive, Comau, LG Chem, and Magna Exteriors were recognized for their innovative contributions to GM products.

AGM is responsible for the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse‘s hands-free liftgate with logo lamp; Comau invented a flexible robotic body assembly framing system; LG Chem supplies the battery for the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV and Magna is responsible for developing a multiaxial laser cutting and welding process on painted thermoplastic, enabling lighter weight design of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 fascia.

“We have the privilege to work with and recognize the industry’s most capable suppliers,” said Steve Kiefer, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “Through their valued partnership, we will continue to deliver the products, services and experiences our customers deserve.”
