Chevrolet Trax deliveries in the United States totaled 6,498 units in March 2017, an increase of 25.8 percent compared to 5,167 units sold in March 2016. In the first three months of 2017, Trax sales have increased 33.8 percent to 18,361 units.

In Canada, the Trax recorded 978 deliveries in March 2017, a decrease of 4 percent compared to March 2016. In the first three months of the year, Trax sales have increased 0.7 percent to 1,836 units in Canada.

The GM Authority Take
As car buyers continue to buy crossovers at the expense of sedans, The Chevy Trax continues to demonstrate that the subcompact (B-segment) crossover segment is thriving in the United States.
Chevrolet was second to enter the U.S. subcompact crossover space, with Nissan’s Juke being the first car to market in the segment. Rival automakers, including Honda and Toyota, have since followed suit by launching vehicles — the HR-V and CH-R, respectively — into the rapidly-growing segment. Meanwhile, GM cross-town rival, Ford, announced plans to start selling its Ford EcoSport CUV in the United States, which will compete directly with the Chevy Trax.
Given the growth of the B-segment CUV segment as well as the ongoing growth in crossover sales, we do not expect that sales of the Trax — which is built in South Korea and Mexico for the U.S. market — will decline any time soon.

This is an example off Chevrolet getting screwed in favor of Buick. Encore belonged being branded as a Chevy while Buick deserved something more luxurious.
Trax is horrible!
We leased a basic Trax in February as a second car for local driving. Really like it’s handling and solid feel!
Buick sold 8,293 of the Encore in MAR 2017 while this report says Chevy sold 6,498 of the Trax over the same period; this suggest one thing, why isn’t GM CEO Mary Barra not ordering a 3rd variant of this vehicle to be sold as a GMC.

GMC dealers are almost always Buick dealers so with the Encore they already have a sub-SUV to offer. And with the success of GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox one might ask why Buick doesn’t get a version. Quick answer; we already have enough badge engineering. A GMC version of Trax model would just add complexity and cost to the build without much of a sales lift.
You’re really off the mark.
First: the current demos of Buick and GMC are complimentary, meaning that the customers do not cross-shop each brand. Instead, they are attracted to the styling of the vehicle they are interested in. In that regard, the styling of GMC B-segment crossover will set it apart significantly from the Encore.
Second: profits dar outweigh anything related to complexity or cost. They will be picking up another 3-8 thousand (THOUSAND) sales a month from the US alone from a b-segment GMC crossover. And that is not saying anything of the current market climate, which is hotvon crossovers.
Third: Buick does have a variant of the Equinox and Terrain. It’s called the Envision.
Buick does have a Terrain variant in Envision. It was the first out of the three to use the new platform and come to market.
Badge engineering is what caused massive issues with old GM. Not every brand needs the same platform/car.
Differentiating brands via unique platforms or heavily modified offerings should only be the way to go.
The last thing we need is a G5/Cobalt, G3/Aveo, Alero/Grand Am, Intrigue/Grand Prix, Lacrosse/Impala, Cutlass/Malibu, Torrent/Equinox (and last gen Terrain/Equinox clones) debacles. Note how these examples occurred within the last 15-20 years. That is how brands go defunct. Pontiac and Oldsmobile are prime examples. I’d even go out on a limb that the Encore and Trax aren’t differentiated enough, aside from better materials and sound dampening in the Encore. Having a GMC, Chevy and Buick with a Trax like CUV will only continue to muddy brands. What’s next, a Cadillac on this platform?
Yes, a sub compact Cadillac CUV is coming to a dealer near you.
I don’t see the big deal provided that the vehicle have it’s own unique look and personality which is very different than old GM badge engineering where you had near identity cards sold under different brands.
Trax and Encore or Regal and Malibu are different enough in a market where general conformity in design is the norm.

No Silent, I didn’t call the new nox and terrain badge engineering. But last gen models, absolutely. The new models are quite similar and the only major differentiation is the interior. I’ll go out on a limb though and say they’re different enough this time around, there is however quite a duality that exists until you get to the Denali trim level.
There is tons of badge engineered cars today . The whole Lincoln brand is a badge engineer Ford, Most KIA’s are badge engineered Hyundai’s, and no one says a word. The Encore and Trax share a platform , but most of the body , interior and options are different , including the Buick front suspension that take 18 in wheels far better than the Chevy as its modified. plus it has at this point a unique 1.4 engine. The Granite concept if properly designed could be closer to the Renegade and would not compete with anything currently in the GM lineup.
Its reality that manufactures must share platforms to drive down cost and there is nothing wrong with that if the platform is a good one . The Trax is a great car for it’s target audience and the platform while simple works very effectively . look at the reviews of people who put their money on a Trax / Encore. most are overwhelmingly satisfied.
Ok, so why aren’t they building them where they sell them yet. There is enough demand and maybe they wouldn’t have to layoff so many people.
