Chevrolet has already stopped taking orders for the SS at the end of February, since the GM-Holden Elizabeth plant in South Australia where the SS Sedan is assembled will cease operations in October 2017, thereby marking the discontinuation of the SS Sedan along with the Holden Commodore, Ute, and Caprice — all of which are based on GM’s Zeta platform.

In the North American market, the Chevy SS Sedan is marketed only in the United States and is not available in Canada or Mexico. As such, sales volume for the Canadian and Mexican markets are zero.

  1. That’s because they were 20% off during March.

  2. Yes, the “tag” certainly does move these cars. Some sources have this week as the final week of production for the SS. Holden production will continue for a bit, but SS is almost done. 9K on mine so far and it’s doing great. 18.5 mpg and the OE Bridgestone’s are wearing better than expected.

  3. SS production must halt in October 2017 – that’s when the factory in Melbourne officially closes. There might still be a few vehicles in the supply chain after that date, as they will take a month or two to reach US dealer lots. That last manufacturer number off the line will be a ‘collectable’ for sure.

    1. Actually, SS production ends THIS WEEK. Order books have been closed a while now.

    2. For the record,

Holden vehicles are manufactured in Elizabeth, South Australia, which is due to end on 20 October 2017.

The V6 engines were manufactured in Melbourne, Victoria and the engine plant was closed on 29 November 2016. Since 1948, the Melbourne plant has produced more than 10 million engines.

The V8 engines Holden uses are sourced from North America.
