The GM Authority Take
A growth in Camaro sales in March is welcome news, as the sports car and the entire pony car segment have been trending down in the first quarter. Meanwhile, Dodge Challenger sales grew 17 percent during the month to 6,225 units and Ford Mustang sales fell 27.4 percent to 9,120 units. It’s vital to note, however, that Dodge is offering the Challenger with some steep incentives/discounts (as much as 25% of total MSRP), while Chevy is not heavily incentivizing the Camaro.

“…while Chevy is not really incentivizing the Camaro.”
A local dealer is advertising all Camaros $5,000 off through May 1st. These are the highest discounts I’ve seen on Camaros. Also, last month I’m pretty sure the Chevrolet’s web site advertised cash offers on Camaros. Based on conversations I’ve had with dealers, $1,000 of that discount is a requirement of getting a loan through GM.
I’ve been flirting with buying a new performance car. I had rejected the Camaro 2SS because of its bloated pricing. At these discounts it’s enough to get me to reconsider my options. Unfortunately, there’s nothing in stock I’m interested in.
$5K off is a dealer discount not a Chevy discount. Obviously, they vary from dealer to dealer and it’s only up to a dealer to offer whatever discount they please to
Well, I’m pretty sure $1,000 of that is a GM financing offer. My experience talking to several dealers of late is most of their price flexibility comes from the factory and it changes month to month.
I’d like to see a comparison between YTD 2017 and YTD 2015.
Can someone find that data?
