Well, it seems we are able to officially call it. We do our best in the business to not jump to any major conclusions surrounding spy photos, future product and stay frosty overall. But, the latest batch of spy photos provides near confirmation the prototype Corvettes we’ve seen for months are, in fact, the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1.
Upon inspection to some more up close and personal spy photos, the “ZR1” logo can be seen embossed into the five-spoke, star-pattern wheels. The C7 Corvette ZR1 has been wearing these wheels since it was first spotted, along with the blue brake calipers we considered a nod to the C6 Corvette ZR1, or the “blue devil.” So, there you have it, it’s a ZR1, folks.
Briefly, it was considered the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 may actually be a C7 Z06X, a factory prepped track package to the Z06 itself. There’s also the precedent put in place by the original C4 Corvette ZR-1; the ZR1 itself seems to skip every other generation. Just theories, but they can be totally dismissed now.
Unless the Corvette team has been playing some elaborate trick, this will be the most powerful, track-ready Corvette ever created. Now, we just want to know where power is coming from to ensure it’s worthy of the ZR1 badge.

A 100 hp overy the current ZO6 should be about tight
Also means no twin turbo next Gen v8. Probably ZR1 because of boost in bhp instead ZO6X
Why cant a TT be installed on the next Gen v8?
I am not saying that GM will do a TT why is it completely ruled out?
The ZR1 should be interesting. I’m still on the fence about a potential bump in HP over the Z06, but we shall see soon enough. With all of the aero bits added (high spoiler, revised splitter, dive planes, etc.), the car reminds me of the new ZL1 1LE Package.
Im glad there appears to be bigger air intakes. One of the biggest complaints ive heard about the zo6 was over heating.
