Chevrolet has made some mechanical improvements for the 2018 model year of S10. The Brazilian pickup truck, known as the Colorado elsewhere in the world, will now be available with a 6-speed automatic transmission and an exclusive engine calibration to bring out greater efficiency.
The same 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired to the new 6-speed auto earns the highest marks in energy efficiency and sits as Brazil’s most efficient pickup truck. Clutch-to-clutch technology allows for quick shifts and behavior like a dual-clutch transmission.
“The demand for automatic pickup trucks is increasing. But, in addition to comfort, the consumer seeks energy efficiency. This equation becomes more challenging on high power and torque motors. The S10 Flex automatic can unite all these virtues, “said Mathias Reinartz, director of GM’s Global Propulsion Systems South America.
The S10 Flex arrives with an automatic gearbox for only the LT and LTZ models to begin and includes various other improvements such as additional measures to tame noise, vibrations and harshness. Additionally, Chevrolet states new structural adjustments improve overall ride and handling qualities.
Brazilian buyers looking for the 2018 Chevrolet S10 Flex won’t have to wait long, the truck will be arriving at dealerships by the end of April.
