2018 Chevrolet Equinox Priced In China

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is a big deal for the brand in China. Not only does it mark an important product in the hot, hot, hot crossover space, but it’s coming with the brand’s first application of General Motors’ nine-speed automatic gearbox. And it has a price for local consumers.

The 2018 Equinox will start at RMB 174,900 ($25,329 USD) and top out at a price of RMB 249,900 ($36,190 USD) with every option checked.

Available in six trim levels, the 2018 Equinox begins Chevrolet’s onslaught of new products coming to China. The brand has promised 20 new or refreshed vehicles by the year 2020. Specifically, as mentioned above, this is the first Chevrolet vehicle to house the automaker’s new nine-speed automatic gearbox, which improves fuel economy when paired to either a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or 2.0-liter turbo in the Equinox. Chevrolet will continue to roll out the nine-speed auto to additional products in China.

Chevrolet China is also packing in features. 59 conveniences come standard with the 2018 Equinox including start/stop, push-button start, a seven-inch touchscreen and multi-function steering wheel. The OnStar basic plan is also standard with no additional charge for five years.

The 2018 Equinox will be built and assembled locally in China at the GM-SAIC Wulang plant and will go on sale in China shortly. For North America, the compact crossover will continue to be assembled in Canada, with potential overflow production sourced to Mexico.

  1. The design is boring. Not Honda bland but not Mazda sleek or Jeep cool, either.
