2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE Takes To Nürburgring For Hot Laps: Video

The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE returned to its second home, that being the Nürburgring, with hopes of setting another stupendous lap time.

The video above shows the Camaro ZL1 1LE scooting around the Nürburging with purpose, likely ahead of an official lap to see what the ZL1 1LE is capable of.

Previously, the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 made it around The Green Hell in 7.29.6, a time that bests many performance powerhouse vehicles from Ferrari, Lamborghini and Koenigsegg. With the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE, we’d imagine the team is looking to clip off a few other names with a new lap time.

The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE adds additional track performance goodies in the form of GM’s DSSV dampers, wider, stickier tires and a slightly lighter curbweight. It sticks with the regular ZL1’s 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 engine, however, pushing an identical 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. But, the ZL1 1LE is a manual gearbox only affair. The optional 10-speed automatic from the ZL1 is not available.

So, whatever time is punched out will be with accomplished with three pedals and a stick. We have a feeling the added aerodynamics and track-inspired engineering will go a long way to shave off precious time. Stay tuned.

  1. Auto trans. are not for track driving anyhow. Especially if you want to set records! Correct gear selection is paramount, so I hope whoever is driving has some track chops. Sabine…? Are you there? Hello???

    1. I’d like to agree with you, as I’m a stick fan myself, but sadly auto tranies have been turning lately better times

  2. STATED ABOVE THE 10 SPEED AUTO WAS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE ZL1. I HAVE A FRIEND DOWN THE STREET WHO BOUGHT A ZL1 WITH A 10 SPEED 3 WEEKS AGO.

  4. This is where I agree with having a stick! Cars like this should have at least a stick option because it’s a performance car. A chevy cruze, malibu, impala, sonic, spark should never have a stick as a option because it’s not a performance car.
