Another day, another award for the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV. This time, it comes from our neighbors to the north. The Bolt EV has been selected as the winner of the 2017 Canadian Green Car Award, which was presented during the Green Living Show.
Specifically, the Bolt EV took home the win in the “zero emissions” category, which had five other vehicles in the hunt for the honor. Judges chose the Bolt EV for its environmental benefits and “mass-market appeal.”
It’s also the second year running Chevrolet has taken top honors with the Canadian Green Car Award. Last year, the 2016 Chevrolet Volt walked away a winner. This year, the Volt was still recognized; the 2017 Chevrolet Volt earned the award for the “plug-in hybrid” category.
“It’s a true honour for Chevrolet to be recognized again with the Canadian Green Car Award, with Volt in 2016 and now the game-changing Bolt EV in 2017”, said Matthew Stokes, assistant brand manager, Chevrolet in Canada. “Chevrolet is committed to innovation and electrification and we are proud to sell more plug-in electric vehicles in Canada than any other brand.”
The Bolt EV has made its first deliveries in Canada, following the west coast launch in the U.S. The entire country of Canada should see a healthy supply of Bolt EV by the end of this year, while the EV gears up to launch in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the U.S. next.
