Opel OnStar is certainly being utilized by consumers after the brand announced the service as tallied nine million interactions since launching 18 months ago. The service encompasses safety, security and convenience in one package for Opel customers, including automatic crash response, vehicle diagnostics, Wi-Fi hotspot and a concierge service to book hotel rooms and more.
Of the interactions, 21,000 calls have been emergency related with the service providing crucial assistance when circumstances meant for zero cellular coverage in an area.
Around half of the nine million interactions were completely through the MyOpel smartphone app with many customers taking advantage of the service’s portability and Opel expects that to expand with its concierge services. As stated, OnStar will be able to book a hotel room for customers and search through a desired area and price range. The updated services will also help drivers search for a suitable parking spot, too.
Moving forward, Opel OnStar will continue its rollout across Europe. By the end of this year, OnStar will be offered in 33 countries across Europe and may be accessed in 23 different languages.
