Meet The Car Stars Of ‘The Fate Of The Furious’: Video

Although we think it’s safe to say The Fast and the Furious franchise has gone a tad over the top, the cars featured in the films are always something to gawk at.
And the latest round of car stars is no different, thankfully.
Mighty Car Mods has taken us into the shop where all the magic happens surrounding the cars built for the films, and the cars to star in “The Fate of the Furious” look pretty great. Specifically, Letty’s 1966 Chevrolet C2 Corvette Sting Ray looks like the proper ride for her character.
The Corvette itself was a barn find and was in incredibly poor shape when it was discovered and then cast for the film. In fact, the Corvette was actually rusting when it was found and required a lot of work to hold the fiberglass components back in place. It’s still a tad rough in areas, too. No paint work has been done on the door jams, under the hood and other areas are still a tad unloved for the sake of time and budget.
The original engine, a 327 cubic-inch V8, had been yanked out and in the spirit of the film, has been replaced with an unnamed, 400 hp Chevrolet crate engine. As for other aftermarket components, the C2 Corvette sports a Wilwood brake kit, upgraded rear differential and a wider stance to make the Corvette really pop on the big screen.
If you’re not interested in any of the other rides starring in the film, you can jump to 4:50 to start hearing all about the Corvette. If you want all the F&F goodness, you can buckle up for the full 20-minute video by pressing play up above.
