The GM Authority Take

The Acadia’s record-setting February sales performance is the outcome of the progressive launch of the all-new, second-generation model across North America — a process that took most of 2016 to complete. The fact that the all-new midsize Acadia, which is a segment size smaller than the first-generation, full-size model it replaces, recorded its best February sales result ever shows that the crossover lands exactly at the sweet of the crossover space, thereby appealing to a broader potential customer base compared to its predecessor.

It will be interesting to monitor the Acadia’s sales performance into the 2017 calendar year, but we expect that the vehicle will continue to post sales volume growth in the months ahead thanks to various factors playing in its favor, including consumers’ love affair with crossovers (at the expense of other vehicle types, like sedans and coupes) as well as the Acadia’s newfound positioning in that segment.
