General Motors has added another option for fleet customers with the addition of Spireon to its family of connectivity and fleet management services.
Spireon will offer a customized version of its FleetLocate tool to help operators better manage fleets of Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles with OnStar 4G LTE hardware onboard. The addition of Spireon is seen as another efficiency step to eliminate other hardware from fleet vehicles and further sync OnStar and fleet management services into one.
Specifically, Spireon helps track vehicle and driver performance and gives fleet operators insights to help them reduce fuel costs, idle time, labor, fleet mileage and maintenance-related downtime. OnStar will also feature a dedicated portal for Spireon to test and work on new vehicle solutions with GM through apps, services, connectivity and more.
Spireon joins GM’s own service, Commercial Link, and Telogis as yet another option for fleet managers to take advantage of. Spireon will go online with OnStar and GM this coming May.
