The GM Authority Take
In a world where consumers are actively buying crossovers over sedans, Chevy’s Volt appears to be marching to the beat of its drum, recording 17 consecutive increases in sales volume growth. That said, 1,820 units is not a significant volume, but it’s worth noting that the Volt is selling better than Buick’s new LaCrosse, which is a rare sight.

People are finally grasping the idea of how Chevrolet’s Volt works in how it’s better than a hybrid which burns gas as soon as you start the car whereas with the Volt, it’ll act like the all-electric Bolt for over 40 miles before the gas motor kicks in to recharge the battery and for those who travel under 40 miles per day, it’s all battery and never needing to buy gas.
Makes you wonder whether Chevy might introduce a Hatchback variant of the Volt like the Cruze as it would make the Volt platform more functional especially for families.. it could be a big seller in China.
Car and Driver magazine recorded a 59 mile range for the 2017 Chevrolet Volt and 45 miles while cruising at 75 mph; given that the US Dept of Transportation say that the average worker drives 30-40 miles total in their daily commute with only a small margin exceeding 50 miles, the 2017 Chevy Volt is a better option than hybrids especially with a 240 volt power source can recharge the battery in just 4.5 hours.
