The GM Authority Take
The cumulative sales performance of the Cruze family in the first two months of 2017 is highly impressive given that it comes at a time when customers are favoring crossover utility vehicles at the expense of sedans. This gives us reason to believe that the all-new, second-generation Cruze is highly desirable among consumers, thereby bucking the trend of crossovers gaining sales at the expense of cars such as sedans and hatchbacks.
Chevrolet completely overhauled the Cruze sedan for the 2016 model year, marking the second generation of the nameplate. For the subsequent 2017 model year, Chevy gave the Cruze sedan several changes and updates and also launched the five-door Cruze hatch, which better positions the vehicle family against segment rivals from Ford, Hyundai, Kia, and Honda.

Several friends have purchased a new Cruze, and I’ve seen a few hatches around my city. GM definitely hit another home run
It’s about time these started to move. They are a really nice car too.
Title of this article is misleading as the 18,2-percent increase is a comparison between FEB 2016 and FEB 2017 sales numbers as Chevy Cruze sales numbers for JAN 2017 was 19,949 with the best sales numbers for this new Cruze model were for AUG 2016 where 22,342 were sold; it’ll be interesting to see what MAR 2017 sales numbers will be as they were very disappointing for MAR 2016 where Chevy only managed to sell 9,881 vehicles. Chevy sold a total of 188,876 Cruze in 2016 or an average of 15,739 cars per month.
