Chevrolet Announces Unlimited Data Plan for OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi

To say the idea of offering in-car Wi-Fi was a good idea would be an understatement. Last year, usage of OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi increased 200 percent by Chevrolet owners, and the brand is ready to lift the cap on data.

Chevrolet has announced an unlimited OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi data plan for customers to take advantage of the service as much as they’d like. No extra fees, nothing. Each and every Chevrolet model with 4G LTE capability will be eligible for the unlimited data plan, with services provided by AT&T.

The plan will cost $20 per month and offer the same support for streaming music, videos, playing video games and surfing the internet. To say passengers take advantage of the service would be a disservice; 17.5 million hours of streaming video were clocked in 2016 alone.

The unlimited data plan will be available nationwide on March 3, 2017.

  1. This Falls in Line, since every cellular carrier offers an ‘unlimited’ plan. The Onstar plan provided by AT&T probably has the same fine print as phones on AT&T’s wireless network.

  2. This is due to a change in FCC policy. Net neutrality is over.

  3. Nice. They went from 4GB for $20 to unlimited for $20!

Looks like Chevy isn’t forgetting about millennials after all 🙂

  4. Wow, luck USA. Here on the Canadian Prairies we technically have unlimited plans but after 10gb, they slow you down to dial up speed, so basically no data. They do this because the cell towers are being bombarded by people watching movies, playing games and streaming music and they take up all the data transfer capability of the towers so people trying to make calls, send texts, etc are having calls dropped or not connecting.

  5. What about Cadillac? You pay tens of thousands of dollars more for a Cadillac and can’t get unlimited data? How dumb is that? This should be a blanket change across ALL GM brands, not just for Chevrolet.

    1. It covers all four brands.

      1. Ok, great! They just mentioned Chevrolet which didn’t make sense at first. They didn’t mention other GM brands. Is there a link somewhere that mentions the other GM brands being eligible for this?

  6. Wait until folks start blowing this up streaming hours of movies or trying to use it for their home internet and end up using 200 Gig a month, we’ll see how unlimited it is then. It will be severely throttled.

  7. Will there be unlimited data plan for people that use Verizon? Please say yes….

    1. GM’s 4G vehicle connectivity is exclusively using AT&T as their carrier.

      1. Do you think in the future you will add Verizon also? Because where I live AT&T service doesn’t work, so we have to use Verizon service.
        Thank You
