Cadillac will soon be on the offensive as it plans for a new vehicle introduction every six months beginning in 2018. The first of the rapid fire of products will in fact be a vehicle desperately needed for the luxury brand’s portfolio: the compact Cadillac XT4 crossover.
And the compact CUV has been spied out and about in the snow and slush with familiar camouflage disguising the final design of the Cadillac. However, it’s easy to see this is the XT4, with similar cues present from earlier rounds of spy shots.
It’s quite possible the XT4 will be the first Cadillac to wear a new corporate face for the brand, inspired by the Cadillac Escala concept, and the rear taillights continue to lend themselves to an Escalade. Though, that may be trickery played by the camo itself.
Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen confirmed the upcoming crossover during the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, where he announced it would not be called the XT3 as once suspected. However, with the compact crossover segment in its sights, the XT4 is likely riding on the D2XX platform, shared with the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox and 2018 GMC Terrain.
Its platform of choice also means a slew of four-cylinder engine options will likely round out powertrain options and potentially a diesel could even be in the cards, seeing the Terrain and Equinox both will be offered with one.
We expect the Cadillac XT4 to show face very early next year to meet the brand’s goal of launching a new product every six months. That also means 2018 will bring us not only the XT4, but something else entirely, too.

They’ve done a good job hiding the details of the vehicle. The headlights and LEDs have me thrown off. I’m really hoping it takes the face from the Escala, but I see a lot of XT5 here too. I do not want to see a shrunk down XT5. Cadillac, please bring in the Escala look!
I think we will see some horizontal lighting elements from the escala in the front and possibly the rear. you can see that the tail lights go up the back of the d pillar similar to the escalade so there might be a horizontal element there too. from the looks though it seems better proportioned and a bit more sporty looking than the XT5 , but that could be the nice big wheels we keep seeing
If the XT4 is on the D2XX platform that the Chevy Volt shares, then an EREV versions is possible, and needed. Many Volt owners wish for a CUV version of the Chevy Volt, and expected the Equinox to carry that title.
A Voltec powered XT4 would be a true winner. The vehicle should instantly add 5K to Cadillac’s monthly numbers.. just for being a CUV. Adding a alternative powertrain would give the Model X a nice new competitor
an fwd bs…. Ill take the bmw or benz
Hi,
The base BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA are FWD as well, and all 3 offer AWD as an option. So this cannot be the convincing argument…
From certain angles the front kinda looks like the 1st gen. SRX, which wasn’t a bad looking car.
It does look FWD to me. So much for their RWD only deal.
