A new world record was recently set for the second-generation Cadillac CTS-V, when the example shown in this video made a 1/2-mile pass at 190 miles per hour.
This CTS-V’s awesome speed was enabled by a freshly-built LSX V8Â fed by a 7275 Precision Turbo and a Holley EFI system, the result being some 1,500 horsepower or so at the crank. All that power is managed by a Tremec TR-6060 6-speed manual transmission.
Watch the video and you’ll see that, despite some clutch-engagement issues, the driver was able to manage a higher trap speed than a Nissan R35 GTR, and match a Lamborghini Gallardo. That’s because fourth gear in this thing seems to be a bit of a monster; when the driver reaches it, this CTS-VÂ takes off like a luxury sedan out of hell. Press play to see it in action.
