Watch The 2017 Buick LaCrosse Ace IIHS Testing: Video

The 2017 Buick LaCrosse not only aced the infamous small overlap crash test but the sedan also walked away from every other test with flying colors.

And that means the 2017 LaCrosse is one of only a few vehicles to earn a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Seen above is the LaCrosse’s small overlap crash test, one of the more difficult tests for automakers to crack. However, following the LaCrosse’s crash test, the IIHS found a low risk of any significant injuries at 40 mph.

The driver’s space was also maintained well with minimal intrusion and airbags kept the dummy’s head safe from any interior and outside objects upon impact.

In order to qualify for a Top Safety Pick, the vehicle must score “Good” marks in each crash test category, something the LaCrosse most certainly did. Have a look at the test for yourself in the video above.

  1. Even the windshield is not broken and A-pillar remains unbent. Good job GM with 3rd generation LaCrosse!
(as a side note, I have 2nd generation 2010 LaCrosse, which was also known to be top safety pick for its year (2010) – that’s part of the reason why I decided to buy it, actually).
