As the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV shows strong signs of life in North America, Opel is planning its democratized EV rollout with the Ampera-e. And it’s good news on the European front, too.
Opel spokesperson Stein Pettersen stated pre-orders for the Ampera-e have reached “four digits” without giving a specific number. A source close to the program states the number may be around 5,000, or closer to 10,000 orders, according to Inside EVs.
The response has been so great that Opel has moved the Ampera-e’s introduction time up by three months. Norway, the first country to receive the Opel Ampera-e, will now see its first shipments arrive in June of this year.
As for the U.S., Chevrolet has stated we’ll see the Bolt EV take to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions next before a full nationwide rollout occurs later this year with a 2018 model year.

Bolt will thrive in Europe with it’s Opel/Mark Adams-inspired design.
I keep waiting to hear that Chevrolet, Opel and Vauxhall have been merged or that Opel will begin sourcing Chevrolet and GMC product going forward.
I guess that this would give Buick a chance at real luxury.
