Dave Fischbach is currently living out a nightmare instead of what was supposed to be a pleasant time at the Detroit Autorama. Fischbach had not one, not two, but three vehicles stolen plus a trailer while he was staying at the Holiday Inn in Southgate.
Local news affiliate WXYZ reports two of the vehicles were housed inside Fischbach’s trailer, a 2000 Jeep Wrangler, and a fully-restored 1960 Corvette. The Ford F-350 hauling the trailer was also taken. Since the theft, the trailer and Jeep have been found, but the F-350 and Corvette are still missing.
The 1960 Corvette has been awarded first place at the National Corvette Competition three times and took 15,000 hours to build, making it a true labor of love for Fishbach. He says the truck can be replaced, but the Corvette is truly one of a kind.
Fishbach is not only concerned about the Corvette, but also his wife, who is battling cancer and is not in good health.
“I just knew this stress is something she didn’t need at this point in her life,” he said. Â “And knowing that I’m under stress stresses her out.”
