Approximately 52,000 General Motors U.S. hourly employees will be eligible to receive up to a maximum bonus of $12,000 as a result of GM North America’s financial performance for the 2016 calendar year. The bonus is part of established profit sharing agreement between the automaker and its hourly labor force.
GM North America posted a net income of $12 billion for the 2016 calendar year on net revenue of $119 billion. The $12 billion in net income is significantly higher than the $1.1 billion net income posted by GMIO, which was GM’s second most profitable regional division in 2016. Serving as an acronym for GM International Operations, GMIO includes China, various Asian markets, as well as Oceanic markets Australia and New Zealand.
