Dealers Snap Up Remaining Allocation Of 2017 Chevrolet SS Sedans

The ferry has left; the bus has moved on. Order books are now officially closed for the 2017 Chevrolet SS performance sedan.
Wheels confirmed with Chevrolet each and every Chevrolet SS sedan has been spoken for via private or dealer orders. In total, production for the 2017 SS has been capped at 3,000 units. That figure is up from what was supposed to be just 2,000, but pent-up demand saw the Elizabeth plant receive an order for 1,000 additional left-hand drive SS sedans for the United States.
“All U.S. dealer orders are in for the allocated production of the 2017 Chevrolet SS,” Chevrolet said. “This includes any additional units that were confirmed for production last year.”
Chevrolet also stated all 2016 model year SS sedans have sold out. A quick Autotrader search showed only a handful of 2016 SS sedans left on dealer lots nationwide as the 2017 model year filled out inventory instead.
With the final production year of the Chevrolet SS at a close, final production numbers may sit just under 10,000 units produced since the introductory 2014 model year. It also marks the final time an Australian vehicle will be sold in the United States. Previously, the Pontiac GTO and G8 ignited Holden’s export dreams to North America.
Back home in Australia, the 2017 Holden VF Commodore Series II faces only a few more months of production before assembly lines fall silent on October 20, 2017.

What will used ’16-’17’s be selling for in 18-24 mos.? It certainly will be fun to watch.
They should do very well provided they are in good shape. From my experience when looking for used G8s these past few years all that could be found were cars that were, as the saying goes “rode hard and put away wet”. Also the SS is better equipped than the G8s were, I didn’t like the style of the G8 interiors at all and a lot of technology improved in the interior in 4 years.
I know that’s what I’m waiting for!
I had a 3-year lease on a 2008 G8 GT. It was a great car and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I actually liked the interior. I had the red leather seats in a metallic black car. Good as it was, I think the Chevy SS is better. A future collectible for sure.
If there are 3K units produced for 2017, there will be more than 11K units produced from 2014-2017.
That’s the number I came with, also.
According to the numbers I found (on this very site, lol), there were 11,388 Chevrolet SS Sedans produced since the beginning of October, 2013 (which is when production officially began). Even if you remove the cars produced in 2013 (418), there were still 10,970 Chevrolet SS Sedans produced since 2014. Considering I got the number of Chevrolet SS Sedans produced from this very site, I’m not sure how the author of this article said:
“With the final production year of the Chevrolet SS at a close, final production numbers may sit just under 10,000 units produced since the introductory 2014 model year.”

14’s and 15 I’m seeing for sale with low miles are in the mid to low 30’s
Look at the demand, they were able to sell 1,000 more than expected!
To bad Chevy is clueless about how to market this car. It would’ve been a terrific competitor to the Charger/300 SRT8 series. Yet they are ending production while there is still demand for V8 performance sedans in America and Australia..
The sad part of all is the fact that the general coluld have used a Cadillac platform and made this car in the USA. To me the price could have been more reasonably priced say lower 40’s new. The dealer’s here in Florida bury this car due to the lack of interest. They call it a nitch vehicle. I hope someday the US automakers will listen to the few who still believe in US made automobile and make them in Detroit again.
Wednesday I took delivery of my 2017 Chevy SS/Phantom Black Metallic/6MT. I absolutely love this car and recommend buying one before they are gone.
I feel lucky!!!!! I put feelers out a few months ago. I asked to be called if the 20% sale was revived. Come march I had 4 dealers call. Of those 3 had allocations of 25-30 to pick from. I went to the most motivated dealer. Picked out my color and left with a smile on my face. No regrets!!!! Can’t wait to supercharge it.
