Could The 2017 HSV GTSR W1 Clip The C6 Corvette ZR1 Around The Track?

If there truly ever was a four-door Corvette, the 2017 HSV GTSR W1 would likely come as close as it could get. The GTSR W1 crams the C6 Corvette ZR1’s potent 6.2-liter supercharged LS9 V8 engine under the hood for a whopping 635 hp and 601 lb-ft of torque, a fitting going away party for the Zeta platform-based Commodore, no doubt.

However, Car Advice wondered if the Corvette ZR1 would outgun the four-door GTSR W1, and HSV engineering director, Joel Stoddart, provided a bit of insight to the potential matchup.

“I don’t know. They’ve got a serious weight advantage over us [around 370kg, 815 pounds], that’s for sure, and they’ve got the [335mm-wide rear) tires that I want,” he said.

“So, I think the Corvette would have us, but I think we’d push it – we’d push it for a family saloon, that’s for sure”

Though, Stoddart reminded everyone of the vehicle’s four-door, family car nature in a humorous light.

“And look, if you had to take your family with you, we’d probably win.”

  4. Nice Pontiac 😉
Chevrolet needs to do a special edition Camaro Firebird Edition with the kidney grill and various other Pontiac-inspired cues.
Such a varient would do well amoung the many Pontiac fans while costing little money. Dodge has mad a fortune off its various special editions. GM should, too.
