Cadillac CTS-V Test Drive Goes Awry, Salesman Clips Bus: Video

It seems things simply got a tad carried away with one Cadillac salesman behind the wheel of a 2016 CTS-V. The video, which is dated from 2015, was just uploaded to YouTube last month and it shows a scary situation that could have turned out much worse.

The salesman is seen behind the wheel of the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V showcasing and explaining the V-series’ lineage and why Cadillac continues to build the performance sedan. Except, when it comes to a fairly straight portion, things get out of hand.

The salesman punches the accelerator, and from what we can see, the CTS-V hits 83 mph before a sweeping right corner comes up. The salesman, who does not slow down for the corner, simply yanks the steering wheel and begins to slide into what could have been a head-on collision with a bus. Except, he was lucky that day, as he only managed to clip the bus instead.

Not to mention, this seems like a very busy road with tourists. But, besides being shaken up, it seems everyone was okay.

Have a look at the video for yourself right up above, and keep it safe on public streets.

  2. Most of them are. I once had a salesman about kill me once in a Mustang GT because he wasnt familiar with a manual. Stalled it so many times too. It was embarassing. I told him to pull over and that he wasnt allowed to drive it back to the dealer or I was reporting him to the manager.

  3. YIkes, gave me a knot in my stomach. Glad it wasn’t much much worse.

  4. Couldn’t help but notice not only was he driving one-handed throughout most of the vid, he took both hands off the wheel at one point, and rolled through the first stop sign. Luckily he wasn’t involved in a head-on with the car following the trolley bus.

More HP than skill. . . Sadly, all too-common where I live. Probably why CT’s prime time local evening news commercials are rife with auto injury/accident attorney advertising.

  5. “It’s all good!” ???

This guy did not run out of skill he ran out of brains. Wrong place and you could tell he was not from around there.

He sounded more like a Cadillac rep not a salesman at a clinic.

It also looks like Florida and lost of sand cover black top will not plant Pilots. My customers in the Middle East also complain about a lack of grip.

At least he did not hurt someone.

I was just amazed he just said shoot!

There is a lot of people out there that it is not the lack of skill but the lack of respect to what a car like this can do and what can happen.

Last week a guy got airborne in a 96 Malibu it bottomed out and left the road and planted sideways into a tree. It was really sad. Even under 200 HP can do you in.

    1. Yet another nail in the coffin of the dealer model. Ever had an Apple Genius not be able to help you and get it right?

Cadillac engineers and designers are amazing people. David Leone and his team should be training the people who test drive the cars with customers on board. Leone’s team should be able to fire test-drive sales people who obviously can’t drive.

But instead, whoever made enough money as a used-car dealer, or a kid who inherited the business from daddy, can employ the cheapest sales people possible and pay for the least training possible, and there’s nothing Cadillac can do about it.

  6. This is why you see commercials specifies how the video is with a professional driver behind the wheel on a closed road because you never really can tell what might happen in the real world; further, it’s just a matter of time before even semi-autonomous software will prevent anyone from exceeding speed limits on public roads.

  7. I’m sure, during the monthly sales meeting, the owner of the dealer never said to the salesmen, “Feel free to hotrod and showoff when giving test drives.”.
