Vauxhall OnStar ended up being one couple’s saving grace after unfortunate circumstances left things looking dim. John and Paula Cook were traveling home after visiting family when Mr. Cook began to fall ill, and the lack of a cellular signal left them without a call for help.
John Cook suffers from epilepsy and during the drive home, his condition began to become serious behind the wheel. After stopping, the couple was unsure what to do without a cell signal. So, Paula pressed the SOS button to speak to OnStar.
The call was picked up in moments and the advisor pinpointed their location to send medical assistance. The advisor also patched her through to family to let them know what was going on. John was taken to the hospital and treated promptly.
“It’s no exaggeration to say that Vauxhall OnStar saved my life,” said Mr. Cook. “Having it in the car 24/7, 365 days a year offers us both peace of mind. Through this activity, I want to raise awareness of the service and also epilepsy as a condition.”
It’s not the first time OnStar has saved a life, and the service continues to research new ways to keep drivers safe behind the wheel. For Mr. Cook, it was a lifeline at a crucial time.

Does Onstar and GM have a webpage to post these positive stories on a regular basis? It seems like a perfect marketing opportunity.
