Specialty Vehicle Engineering Reveals 2017 Yenko Chevrolet Camaro With 800 Horsepower

Speciality Vehicle Engineering is following up its monstrous C7 Yenko Corvette Grand Sport with a more familiar Yenko treatment. The performance house, which uses the “Yenko” name under license, has revealed the 2017 Yenko Chevrolet Camaro with a supercharged powerplant pushing 800 hp.

SVE has massaged the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine to displace 416 cubic inches, or 6.8 liters, and added the fuel system and injectors from the 6.2-liter LT4 supercharged V8 engine. However, the supercharger attached to this Yenko Camaro is custom by SVE.

Forged aluminum pistons, CNC ported and polished LT1 cylinder heads and a custom tune helps the 2017 Yenko Camaro displace its 800 ponies with stride.

Of course, Yenko badging is found throughout the Camaro. Yenko details can be found with exterior badges, engine cover, headrests and floormats for starters. Even the keyfobs will be decked out with Yenko graphics.

SVE says only 50 of these Yenko Camaros will be built and we imagine they’ll sell out pretty quickly.

This is one of the reasons why Chevrolet’s Camaro program continues to experience success while Cadillac’s ATS and CTS program is at standstill as Cadillac needs to consider stealing Chevrolet C7 Camaro Chief Engineer Al Oppenheiser and appoint him to replace David Leone as Cadillac’s Chief Engineer for the ATS and CTS especially if Cadillac wants to go after younger buyers.

Sory to wreck the train of thought, but the camaro is actually based off of the alpha platform that cadillac developed. So stealing Oppenheiser is kinda pointless because he’s just using tech that cadillac developed.
Cadillacs dont really need to appeal to anybody, as they are primarily GM’s R&D department, and has been for many years. Chevy volt, caddy project. magnetic suspension, caddy. hell, the first car with interchangeable parts was a caddy.
Honorable mentions: 2l turbo came out in the ats before the camaro. Next you’ll see(unfortunately-it turns the camaro into a ricer in my opinion) the twin turbo 465 hp v-6 offered in the camaro, that cadillac already has.
But, like I said, let the mustang go all euro trash with high revving, turbo farting boost that destroys low end torque.
The point is though, most of the advancements the rest of gm experiences comes from caddy, so I say let them be.
