Even through video, the sounds emitted from 6.2L LT1 V8 fill us with glee. Thanks to in-ear binaural microphone recording, the sounds and overall experience of this POV test drive are vivid as can be. The vehicle of choice is the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport equipped with a 7-speed manual gearbox, and behind the wheel is a gentlemen from Winding Road Magazine.
Making use of the totally awesome heads-up-display, the driver easily carves his way through the canyons. The LT1 V8 hums along gracefully, releasing a mighty roar whenever the driver gets enough room to go wide-open-throttle. Along the way, the C7 Corvette seems to make passes with relative ease.
It’s no track-attack video, but we are given a good impression of the road manners of the Corvette Grand Sport. Give it a watch, and be sure to read our first impressions afterward.

I’m curious as to why the driver is hugging the right side of the lane so much of the time, also reacting slowly to curves in the road to the left. The steering wheel in all of GM’s sport models have adopted Pontiac’s 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock bulging grip positions, which are intended to suggest where the driver’s hands should be on the steering wheel, but this driver instead has his hands at the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock positions, which could be contributing to his slow reaction time of pointing the car into the curves.
