What’s the story, midsize trucks stealing some sales, Ford has them on average consumer engine appeal, Dodge has them on price?
They need to get a more diverse engine lineup and implement the multi-material architecture as seen on the CT6. And grow some balls, stop playing it safe with limited appearance packs and make some true low run models – i.e. and SS and ZR2
A new full-sized pick up truck platform is on the way that will address lightweight construction and more efficient powertrains.
That is a given.
I agree that if GM does a special edition model like SS or ZR2 it should have some teeth and not just an appearance package.
For 2018 or 2019 when the new Silverado/Sierra come out I want to see a turbocharged engine option, plus diesel and hybrid as well.
The market acceptance has been proven for these options by Ford and Dodge.
A agree GM as a whole plays it too safe and is too slow to market.
They will likely be 2-3 years behind Dodge and Ford for a light duty diesel option.
Good! This curry GM Truck is not worth the price! Doesn’t even have rear A/C on an LTZ Crew Cab? And still with its clunky 6 speed. Needs a true redo!
2018 as a 2019 models Full size trucks/ Full size suvs lighter chassis and body, comes from Cadillac CT6 construction. DOHC engines, NA V6/TTV6, V8 engine DOHC, New Full Plug in Hybrid system, new LD diesel engine. These engines will be smaller, lighter, DI, Turbocharged/NA, started stop system/AFM system on them. The chassis will also be IRS for these SUV’s and brake by wire will be on these trucks and SUVs
That is nice , speedy , now where did you find this information ?
They are getting pricy! I like my 16″ a lot. The 16 seems to have a better more refined 6 speed then the 14″. We also have a Prius and use it for all the long distance a to b long hauls and zipping around town. Here’s my point, after learning how to really drive the Prius I wonder why g.m. And other don’t have a small electric assist on driveshaft just for excelleration! Steady state 70 miles per the 5.3 delivers great gas mileage. You loose it all accelerating! Dodges here in Maine are all rusting out FAST around the rear wheel wells! If that was g.m. there would be class action suits coming out there ears! Dodge does not want to address this from what owners tell me,but it’s been going on here for years! 50000.00 for a truck that rust bubbles come thru in two years!
Please bring the price down. Getting outrageous to buy a silverado
I have a 2014 Silverado. 105000 miles best truck I have ever owned. But the have increased the price on there LTs like mine were they just are not affordable. I was going to buy one in Dec but it just did not make since. Looks like I am going to be a 200000 mile member in a few years
