Chevy Cruze Sales Rise 2.8 Percent To 17,324 Units In December 2016

Chevrolet Cruze deliveries in the United States totaled 17,324 units in December 2016, an increase of 2.8 percent compared to the 16,849 units sold in December 2015. In the 2016 calendar year, sales of the mainstream compact decreased 16.7 percent to 226,602 units.

In Canada, the Cruze recorded 2,760 deliveries in December 2016, an increase of 61.8 percent compared to December 2015. In the 2016 calendar year, Cruze sales decreased 16 percent to 26,824 units in Canada.

For the 2016 model year, Chevrolet completely overhauled the Cruze sedan, marking the second generation of the nameplate while also continuing to sell the first-gen model as the Cruze Limited. For the 2017 model year, Chevrolet gave the Cruze sedan several changes and updates and launched the Cruze hatch, which better positions the Cruze family against segment rivals from Ford, Hyundai, Kia, and Honda.

I have seen the new Chevy Cruze Hatch advertisement, which mentions “Real Dogs, not actors” as they fit inside the passenger and hatch areas. I wonder if the Chevy Volt may get this same hatch design, since they share the same platform. By next month, add the “Cruze Hatch” as a different entry to compare sales between the sedan and hatch models.
