Fresh information from Car and Driver pegs the upcoming 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 to potentially debut later this month.
Following numerous sightings of the 2018 Corvette ZR1, the report states a debut during the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona may be where we’ll see the latest C7 Corvette variant debut. An unnamed Corvette engineer stated both the C7 Corvette ZR1 and C8 Corvette programs are well underway with no snags or delays, while a second unnamed GM source stated the ZR1 could show face during the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Car and Driver has since updated its report stating the debut date is still in question and could be revealed at a later point in time.
It was long suspected Chevrolet would utilize the 2017 North American International Auto Show to reveal the C7 Corvette ZR1, but we first reported that was not in the cards.
Whenever, and wherever, the 2018 Corvette ZR1 shows face it will likely be packing an all-new 6.2-liter LT5 DOHC V8 engine, per leaked General Motors documents that made their way to the internet a few weeks ago.

This makes sense as they are now doing a delivery program at the track for Corvette not that I think of it. If not here Sebring or Even Indy are options as Chevy has a presents at these races too.
One way or the other they will intro it at a race just as they did the Camaro at the Detroit Race.
GMAuthority article :”New Corvette Variant Will Likely Be Absent From 2017 North American International Auto Show” 1-4-2017:
Old Trombone: “Debut will be at IMSA Daytona 24 Hour, in front of the people who have the money and motivation to buy this amazing car.”
Scott3: “I agree Daytona could also be a place but the problem there is Cadillac has the new prototype and they will get the bulk of the media there and will not want Corvette stealing the thunder.”
Frank R: “I don’t know that any of this makes any sense at all. Why would the Tadge and the Corvette Team go through the effort and expense to develop an LT5 front engine ZR1 with a mid-engine “ZR1/ Zora” coming soon. I might be completely off base, but I’d say if, in fact, the team is developing a front engine ZR1 for 2018, there will not be a Mid-engine ZR1 for several years, maybe many years. It is possible that the mid-engine mule, we’ve seen, is a Cadillac in Corvette clothing. In my opinion, a mid-engine Corvette that would compete with the Ford GT, Ferrari and McClaren would be GREAT, but if the price is in line with the others, it will be an unattainable dream for many current Corvette owners, myself included.”
We will all find out soon! It’s been fun speculating along the way.
Can’t be fast enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2018 Corvette ZR1=Viper ACR fighter
It will be a harder than hardcore version of the Corvette. Nothing more, nothing less. I’m pretty psyched to see this thing.
Now they are reporting it may debut at a race in August. I hope it’s this month
Hmm the Woodward Cruise is in August and that is one for big press intros too.
I can’t exactly recall the article, I think it said something like a continental tire race…. something along those lines. And it said it would be in showrooms before the end of the year.
