2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 Now Rumored To Appear In August, We Have Our Doubts

Just the other day, Car and Driver was pretty confident the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 would show its face at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona this month.

However, the publication quickly backtracked with new information stating the super Corvette would indeed be absent from the event. Now, it has a new prediction for the world.

C/D believes the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1, and its shiny, new 6.2-liter LT5 DOHC V8 engine, will be revealed at the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase, an IMSA event, at Road America this coming August. Once again, the publication cites unnamed sources for the latest debut rumor, so it’s truly anyone’s guess as to when we will actually see the ZR1 bow.

That’s Car and Driver’s take. Not ours. We have our own crystal ball, and it tells us that we won’t see any new Corvette variants until the fall of 2017. Possibly at an auto show that’s to be determined.

  1. GM has past history here with the intro of the CTSV.

If it is August it could also be at the Woodward Cruise.

I think Car and Driver is just tossing out ideas to see if anything sticks. They are doing the same on the C8 too.

  2. If it is August, I would guess Corvettes at Carlise where there are 5000 Corvettes on display. Usually 30 to 50 thousand people there each day as well.
