President Trump was not treated to an all-new presidential limousine on inauguration day as previously reported, but that vehicle is still on schedule to be ready by the end of the year.
However, Jalopnik took a gander back through the archives to see what other kinds of vehicles have been submitted for being a possible state car, and there are certainly some funky submissions. One, in particular, is relevant for this space, though.
In 1993, General Motors submitted a Saturn SL1 presidential limousine for consideration as former President Bill Clinton’s ride. This is totally real. We’re sure the use of its plastic bodywork, what Saturn has always been known for, may have been a minor decision to go with a 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood instead through Clinton’s presidency.
Plus, riding around in GM’s proposed import-killing brand just doesn’t seem up to snuff for any president.

Well it would of saved the tax payers a ton of money in gas…..lol
You have to be kidding GM.
The Jalopnik article was satire. There was never a consideration for a Saturn limo. GM Authority used to be a great site to visit for breaking industry news. Sad.
No offense but how could you read this and not realize that it is a Joke.
“While it retained Saturn’s trademark plastic bodywork and was, as a result, not armored or bulletproof, Saturn installed a system that would detect if the car was penetrated by gunfire, at which point it would activate an early radio-modem connected to a 386-based PC that would launch America Online, log on, and send a message to the Vice President’s AOL email requesting that he take over the office of the Presidency.”

Wow. This article confirmed my belief that Jalopnik often casts pearls before swine. While satirical writing is sometimes hard to discern from outlandish material, the limousine article was overflowing with exaggeration and mockery. It is quickly becoming pointless to visit GM authority.
